A member of The Egyptian Initiative to Win Back Egypt’s Stolen Money in Spain, Moataz Salah El-Din, told MENA on Friday that Spanish lawyer, Matthew Fortunato, made a motion to the Spanish National Court to extradite the detained businessman, Hussein Salem to Egypt.

Salah El-Din explained that Fortunato is working on this case on a volunteer basis and is coordinating with Ibrahim Abou El-Rous, head of the Egyptian community in Spain. Abou El-Rous has also received a permit from Spanish authorities that allows Egyptians to organise a demonstration on Sunday.

The Spanish High National Court is expected to make a decision on the Salem case on 26 September.

Salem, an Egyptian business tycoon, is accused of multiple charges of corruption and money laundering and is currently held by Spanish authorities. His son and daughter are also accused of money laundering and are to be handed over to Egypt.
