German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Foreign and Security Policy Adviser Christoph Heusgen arrived in Cairo Monday for a two-day visit where he is set to discuss regional affairs with a number of officials, Ahram Arabic website reported.

Heusgen will also discuss with Egyptian officials ways to bolsters ties between Cairo and Berlin.

Foreign minister Sameh Shoukry will meet with Heusgen Tuesday.
