An Israeli delegation arrived in Egypt by private jet on Sunday for a new chapter of talks with Egyptian officials following attacks on one of the Israeli embassy’s facilities last month.
The 9 September mass protests ended in chaos after demonstrators headed to the Israeli embassy, brought down a wall in front of the building and broke into one of the embassy’s offices.
Later, protesters clashed fiercely with Central Security Forces (CSF). Three people were killed in the ensuing violence and the Israeli ambassador flew home.
The Israeli ambassador returned to Egypt after tensions cooled down, and talks between both countries have been underway since shortly after the clashes.
The delegation intends to resumes talks over the embassy incident and the Palestinian issue.
The Israeli delegates’ identities remain undisclosed, according to Cairo Airport officials.
