Egypt's Minister of Defence Sedqi Sobhi met on Wednesday with Pakistan's military production minister Rana Tanveer, where they discussed boosting military cooperation as well as regional issues of mutual interest, according an Egyptian Armed Forces statement.
Sobhi praised the deep historical ties between Egypt and Pakistan, highlighting Egypt's keenness for further cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
Minister Tanveer expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's support to the countries and people of the region, and called for an exchange of expertise between the militaries of both countries.
In April, the militaries of both countries agreed to a programme of exchanging intelligence and enhancing cooperation to combat terrorism in the region.
The Egyptian and Pakistani armed forces are classified among the top 20 most powerful militaries in the world, according to global firepower list 2016.
