Warm weather is expected nationwide on Monday, with temperatures in the capital reaching 27 degrees Celsius, Egypt's Meteorological Authority (EMA) said.

In a statement, the EMA said the weather will be hotter in Upper Egypt, which is usually the country's warmer region, with cold weather at night.

Fog is expected in the north of the country, as well as Upper Egypt and the Nile Delta governorates.

Last week, the EMA predicted a temporary heat wave that started Friday, with high temperatures lasting through the week until Wednesday.

The EMA said temperatures would gradually rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius over the course of the heat wave, which comes during the harsh winter season.
