Egypt's Armed Forces launched on Monday a number of hotlines for citizens to “report terrorists and places where they are suspected to be,” according to a statement by the military.

The launch comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Armed Forces and police to “eliminate terrorist hotspots and protect the state's borders in all strategic directions.”

Citizens can also report attempts of infiltration and smuggling across the country’s borders.

"The Armed Forces urge the Egyptian people to cooperate and provide accurate information that would help relevant authorities to detect, monitor and apprehend criminals and bring them to justice in accordance with the law," the statement concluded.

On Friday, Egypt launched Operation Sinai 2018, which involves land, naval and air operations to target "terrorist and criminal organisations" in northern and central Sinai, as well as parts of the Nile Delta and the Western Desert.

Dozens of terrorists have been killed and more than 400 suspects have been arrested during the extensive campaign, according to officials.
