The Palestinian embassy in Cairo confirmed the continued arrival of Palestinians wounded in Gaza by the Israeli occupation forces over the past week to receive treatment in Egyptian hospitals in El-Arish, Ismailia and Cairo.

The embassy said in a statement that the wounded are being transported through the Rafah crossing, where they are received by a medical team led by Deputy Health Minister Arabi Mohamed.

On Monday, Israeli forces used live ammunition against Palestinian demonstrating in Gaza against the moving of the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, killing 61 Palestinians and injuring hundreds.

Since Palestinians started their Right of Return marches in Gaza last March, Israel has killed at least 108 and wounded thousands.

According to the Palestinian embassy, the injured have been receiving treatment at El-Arish General Hospital in Sinai, and some have recently been transferred to Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo.

Emergency levels at Egyptian hospitals treating injured Palestinians have been raised to a high level to receive the wounded.

The Palestinian embassy expressed its appreciation to the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Health Minister Ahmed Emad El-Din for helping save the lives of the wounded in Gaza.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on unarmed Palestinian protesters, Egypt has been sending aid and medical convoys to Gaza through the Rafah crossing border.

On Thursday, the first day of Ramadan, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi ordered the opening of the Rafah border during the entire holy month to “ease burdens on our brothers in Gaza.”

The Rafah border crossing is the main gateway to the outside world for 1.8 million Palestinians living in the besieged Gaza Strip.
