Egyptian authorities said on Tuesday that the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip is still open in both directions to stranded travellers and humanitarian cases, despite a technical failure in the crossing’s communication system.

Authorities dismissed media reports on Tuesday that the crossing was closed.

Repairs are underway to fix the error.
