The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is planning to issue a contract to an international company to evaluate the quality of services provided by Egypt's Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Minister Amr Talaat said.

The contracted company will be required to administer detailed tests on the services and networks of the four MNOs in Egypt (Vodafone, Orange, Etisalat, and Telecom Egypt), according to the minister.

He added that the ministry is currently conducting trials to choose between the two shortlisted companies for the quality tests.

In addition, the comprehensive tests will be conducted in every region in Egypt and the results will be published on the website of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in order to help consumers make an informed choice of their mobile network.

The last quality of services report on NTRA website was published on June 2017.

The move should help increase the competitiveness between the mobile network operators in Egypt, enhance the transparency of the sector, and transfer experience to officials working in that sector.
