NCW praises selection of 12 female members in Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs

Maya Morsi, president of the Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW), said that the selection of 12 women for membership in the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs is a new gain for Egyptian women.

The NCW issued a statement on Tuesday congratulating the 12 women, especially Amina Naseer, professor of philosophy and Islamic religion at Al-Azhar University, and she is the first woman to chair a committee in the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

On Monday, Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa announced the decision to include new female members to the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in its current session for the year 2019/2020.

Minister Gomaa choose Naseer to be the chairman of the council's Family and Child Committee.
