Egypt’s endowments ministry decided on Saturday to temporarily suspend all congressional prayers as well as Friday prayers in all mosques across the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The duration of the suspension is yet to be announced.

Earlier today, Al-Azhar Grand Imam also suspended prayers at Al-Azhar mosque for two weeks.

Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church, to which the majority of Christians in Egypt belong, also announced on Saturday that it’s shutting down all churches nationwide to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
