Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed in a telephone conversation Sunday with France’s President Emmanuel Macron cooperation to combat the fast-spreading coronavirus, a spokesman of Egypt’s presidency said.
During the call El-Sisi received from the French President, the two leaders discussed joint efforts to combat the deadly virus in their countries and in the African continent, spokesman Bassam Rady said.
The call came one day after the two officials discussed how global partners will support Africa’s fight against the coronavirus during a mini summit held with African leaders by video.
El-Sisi and Macron also discussed bilateral ties and exchanged views on recent developments in the region, namely the situation in Libya.
Egypt has so far recorded 1,070 Coronavirus cases including 71 fatalities, while France has registered more than 89,900 cases with 7,560 deaths.
