Egypt reported on Monday 1,691 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 46,289, the health ministry said.
The ministry also reported 97 fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,672.
The number of fatalities rose by 6 up from 91 on Sunday, while the 1,691 new infections surpasses the previous single day highest toll of 1,677 reported on Saturday.
The health ministry added that 398 patients fully recovered and were discharged from isolation hospitals and quarantine facilities. The total number of recoveries from the highly contagious virus now stands at 12,329.
The number of patients whose PCR test results have turned from positive to negative, including complete recoveries, has now reached 13,732, ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said.
