Egypt's Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri decided to reinstate the governor of Port Said, who was stripped from his position following the death of 74 in a disastrous football match in Port Said stadium.
The decision to reinstate him is reportedly because Governor Mohamed Abdallah was not listed as a defendant in the case filed by Egyptian Prosecutor General Abdel Meguid on 15 March.
The Port Said head of security, the stadium director and police detective chief were among the officials who were also relieved of their duties pending investigations.
Ahly (one of the two top Cairo teams) football fans were attacked in the stadium at the conclusion of an away match in Port Said. Many died, with almost a thousand injured in the February match.
