Security officials on Monday in Egypt's Port Tawfiq, a Suez Canal harbour, confirmed that three workers were killed and at least nine were injured when a tugboat engine exploded.
The officials said that fire fighters and civil defense, in cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, were able to put out the fire that started in one tank of the tugboat during maintenance work .
The tugboat belongs to Petroleum Services Company "BNS".
The officials said that situation in Port Tawfiq is calm and movement in Suez Canal is not affected.
The injured workers are suffering from various degrees of burns and they have been taken to receive treatment in a nearby hospital.
