Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi wished his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron a speedy recovery after testing positive for coronavirus.

"My sincerest wishes for a speedy recovery to President Emmanuel Macron who is leading his country firmly in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic," El-Sisi wrote on his social media accounts on Thursday.

"I affirm Egypt's support to France's efforts to curb the spread of the virus, and I assure the necessity of cooperation of the international community to overcome the pandemic," he added.

The French presidency said on Thursday Macron has tested positive for COVID-19, is self-isolating for the next seven days, and will continue to run the country remotely.
