Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reiterated Egypt’s call on nuclear powers to honor their pledges and obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), stressing the importance of realising progress towards nuclear disarmament.
This came in a recorded speech he addressed to the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament convened in Geneva on February 22-26.
Shoukry highlighted efforts being exerted to rid the Middle East region of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction, urging the world community to support endeavors to create an area free of nuclear weapons and WMDs in the Middle east.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s keenness on continuing its active and constructive contributions to international disarmament talks.
