Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi expressed to his Beninese counterpart Patrice Talon Cairo's keenness to boost bilateral cooperation on different levels, particularly in infrastructure, energy projects, as well as in countering terrorism and maritime piracy in West Africa.
In a phone call on Thursday, President El-Sisi emphasised the "distinguished" ties between Egypt and Benin, congratulating Talon for being re-elected, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
The call touched upon a number of regional issues of mutual interest, Radi noted, adding that El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s hope to expand coordination with Benin to achieve security, stability, and development in Africa.
Talon said Egypt has a political will and a clear-cut vision for Africa to push forward joint African actions and achieve Africa's development goals.
He lauded the continued development of bilateral ties, expressing his appreciation of Egypt’s support of Benin to achieve its aspirations for development, Rady added.
Talon indicated that there are "wide-ranging prospects" for developing relations and promoting cooperation with Egypt in different fields.
