Clashes erupted once again on Thursday night infront of downtown Nile Towers after a number of families threw security forces guarding the Towers with stones.
According to Ahram Arabic Language website, security forces said they succeeded in pushing back the families who cut off the courniche road paralyzing traffic completely.
Security forces shot bullets in the air in an attempt to disperse the angry crowd.
Clashes had broken out at the downtown Cairo's Nile City Towers on Thursday afternoon.
Dozens of civilians with molotov cocktails have set light to several parked vehicles beside the Nile-front complex and attacked parts of the building.
Security and emergency services arrived at the scene in a bid to quell a potentially flammable situation.
The assailants came by three microbuses and several motorcycles then blocked the street after a man had been gunned down by a police officer, according to a report at Ahram's Arabic-language news website.
No official figures for injuries have been released.
