Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) leader Saad El-Katatni has urged protesters at the High Constitutional Court (HCC) to remain peaceful and not hinder the work of judges.

"Our party [FJP] rejects the use of violence," read the statement on El-Katatni's Facebook page on Sunday.

Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and the FJP, its political wing, gathered outside the HCC late Saturday to demand the delay of verdicts on the constitutionality of the Shura Council and the Constituent Assembly which were due to be issued on Sunday.

The protest led Judge Maher El-Beheiry to postpone the verdict until an unknown date.

President Mohamed Morsi issued a constitutional declaration on 22 November which stated the Constituent Assembly and the Shura Council could not be dissolved by a court decision, despite the ongoing cases.

The president on Saturday announced the constitution would be put to a national referendum on 15 December.
