Al-Azhar sends delegation to Soul, Egypt

Delegation will meet on Wednesday with members of the community to express its solidarity and help to find a solution to the sectarian crisis in the village

The grand sheikh of Al-Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayyeb, has assigned a delegation to go to the village of Soul Wednesday to talk with members of its Muslim and Christian communities.

The delegation will be headed by Dr. Mahmoud Azab with the participation of Dr. Abdullah Barakat Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Da'wa Al-Azhar University; Dr. Ahmed Hemaia, renowned scholar in Germany and the imam of the Sultan Hassan Mosque, and a group of Al-Azhar scholars.

Azab announced in a statement after meeting El-Tayyeb, that he had delegated to them the delivery of Al-Azhar's message, which is in full solidarity with the spirit of the January 25 Revolution’s youth and in this delicate period for the nation, Al-Azhar denounces any action detrimental to the homeland from within or without. Azab also stated that the church must be rebuilt that the Islamic spirit of tolerance is shown.
