Pro-change groups call for army protection as they intend to lobby voters against proposed constitutional amendments

A coalition of 50 political groups, pro-change movements and human rights organisations have sent a letter to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces informing them that they will work to lobby voters against the proposed constitutional amendments.

In the letter, the group asked the Supreme Council to protect representatives in front of polling stations during the referendum, which is set for Saturday 19 March.

Among those who signed the letter are the 6 April Movement, the 25 January Movement, Kefaya, the Independent People’s Campaign in Support of ElBaradei as well as Wael Nawara, general secretary of Al-Ghad Party and political activist Gameela Ismael.
