Egypt's former president Hosni Mubarak will remain on a travel ban list even if the prosecution does not appeal Wednesday's court order for his release, a judicial source from the general prosecution said.
A Cairo court accepted on Wednesday an appeal by Mubarak against a recent detention order he received pending investigations into charges of illegally receiving millions of Egyptian pounds worth of gifts from state-run publisher Al-Ahram.
Mubarak's funds will remain frozen as he is still under investigation in several corruption cases.
However, the ousted president, who has been on trial since August 2011, is now free to leave jail as he has received release orders pending further investigations in all of the four trials he is undergoing.
The ex-president, who was ousted by a popular uprising in January 2011, is being retried on charges of complicity in the killing of over 800 protesters in the uprising, after his appeal on a life sentence was accepted. He is due to appear in court on 25 August in this case.
