Engineering students at Cairo University have suspended their sit-in after the faculty dean resigned on Wednesday.

All protest activities will be suspended until Sunday due to the precarious security conditions, the faculty's student union said via Facebook.

It will discuss forming a united front with other movements and student unions and announce its future plans on Sunday, it added.

The move came after engineering faculty administrators resigned on Wednesday and the semester was suspended indefinitely after violent protest swept the campus. The bad weather may also have had an impact.

Dozens of students were arrested on Wednesday during clashes with security forces. Dozens were also injured

On Sunday, the student union announced it would hold a sit-in on campus to demand justice for their colleague Mohamed Reda, who was shot during clashes with security forces two weeks ago.
