Referring to ousted president Hosni Mubarak's statement to the A Arabia news channel, Supreme Council of Armed Forces member Mamdouh Shahin said that to ban Mubarak from calling or mailing a judicial decision is required. In an interview given on Monday to the Egyptian satellint channel ONTV, Shahin added that although Mubarak is under house arrest, nothing forbids him from giving voice statements.
On a different note, Shahin commented on Maikel Nabil’s three years sentence explaining that although freedom of speech should be guaranteed the cuurent laws criminalize words or actions directed at the army’s safety. He added that Nabil has the right to appeal the military court’s decision.
