The High State Security Prosecution has ordered the release of 10 persons, according to Ali’s post on Facebook.

The detainees are Ahmed Halmi in the case 260/2021, Ahmed Mahmoud in the case 909/2021, Hassan El-Saeed in the case 2000/2021, Mostafa El-Said in the case 1413/2019, Salah El-Saeed in the case 1175/2018, Hany Abdullah in the case 775/2020, Mohamed Ahmed in the case 488/2019, Salah Hassan in the case 1118/2019, Yousry Hussein in the case 706/2019 and Sameh Mahmoud in the case 58/2020.

On Monday, the authorities released 15 pretrial detainees including Islamist activist Magdy Korkor and producer Moetaz Abdel-Wahab.

On 30 May, researcher and writer Ayman Abdel-Moeti, former spokesperson of the 6 April Movement Sherif El-Rubi, and two others were released. Earlier in April, the prosecutor-general ordered the release of 41 pretrial detainees.

The release orders come two months after Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi ordered the reactivation of the Presidential Pardon Committee in April and called for a national political dialogue without “exceptions or exclusion.”

The Presidential Pardon Committee is mandated to review the cases of those imprisoned for political crimes and others who meet certain conditions, such as families who have more than one relative in jail.
