A team of investigators arrived at the scene to conduct necessary examinations, a statement by the prosecutor said on Monday.

The statement did not mention whether it was a suicide attempt or not.

In recent years, several suicied cases have been reported, whether by jumping off Cairo Tower or in front of trains, in addition to swallowing pesticides.

The World Health Organisation has listed Egypt among countries with low suicide rates.

According to a report published by WHO in 2018, suicide attempts in Egypt reached 3.799 or 0.68 percent of total deaths, a ratio of three suicides per 100,000 people.

Recently, many private and government-sponsored online campaigns and hot numbers began addressing the problem.

Upon dialling 02 2081 6831 or 080 0888 0700 -- the hotline of the Ministry of Health and Population's General Secretariat of Mental Health -- callers are able to talk to employees about mental health issued and are directed to the nearest suitable mental health facility.

Furthermore, there are various online initiatives such as Takestep and Shezlong that enable users to book and pay for online or phone sessions anonymously.
