The husband had reported that Gamal was missing after she disappeared in front of a commercial complex in Sixth of October City but did not accuse anyone of the crime, the prosecution said in a statement late on Monday.
The prosecution then found the body of the late TV presenter after a man, who claimed he has a close relationship with the victim’s husband, willingly offered his testimony on Sunday.
The witness said that the husband killed Gamal over differences between them and claimed that he saw the crime take place and that he knows the place of her burial.
The prosecution then ordered the detainment of the witness for four days pending investigation.
Relatives of the victim said she disappeared from the Sixth of October commercial complex after being last seen in the company of her husband.
The prosecution also obtained authorisation from the judicial authority, which employed the husband, to lift his immunity and take measures against him, the statement said without naming the authority.
Gamal was known for her programme El-Moshagheba (The Troublemaker) on LTC satellite channel.
She also worked for Al-Hadath Al-Youm satellite channel.
