Security arrested the accused husband in Suez governorate, where he went in hiding, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said all legal measures have been taken against him.

The husband had earlier reported that Gamal went missing after disappearing in front of a commercial complex in 6 October City. He did not accuse anyone of the crime at the time, according to the prosecution.

On Tuesday, the prosecution announced that the body of the TV presenter was found after a man – who alleged he was close to the victim’s husband – willingly offered his testimony to the prosecution.

The man said he witnessed the crime and claimed that the husband killed Gamal over differences between them.

The witness informed the prosecution of the place where Gamal's body was buried.

The prosecution ordered the detention of the witness for four days pending investigation, adding it obtained authorisation from the judicial authority, which employed the husband, to lift his immunity and take measures against him.

Relatives of the victim said she disappeared from the 6 October commercial complex after being last seen in the company of her husband.

Gamal was known for her programme El-Moshagheba (The Troublemaker) on LTC satellite channel.

She also worked for Al-Hadath Al-Youm satellite channel.
