The exceptional visit comes “within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to uphold human rights values, apply the modern approach of the punitive policy, and provide various aspects of care to inmates,” the ministry said in a statement.

Human Rights Day is celebrated every 10 December.

Its purpose is to spread awareness of and promote respect for the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948.

Marking the day, Egypt reaffirmed today its commitment to contributing to the international human rights system as well as to improving the human rights situation at the national level to achieve the aspirations of the Egyptian people.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted in a statement Egypt’s recent achievements in the field of human rights, with special emphasis on the launch of the Egyptian National strategy of human rights in September 2021.
