The prosecution has addressed the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to lift the freeze and the bank has started relevant procedures, according to the statement.
In August 2018, courts froze Marzouk’s assets after his arrest along with six others for terrorism-related charges in the case 1305/2018.
He was released in May 2019 pending investigation.
Those accused in the case face charges of aiding a terrorist group, receiving funding for a terror-related purpose and engaging in a criminal deal to commit terrorism.
Marzouk, 77, previously served as ambassador to Estonia, Finland and Uganda as well as assistant foreign minister.
He was a leading member of the Nasserist Popular Current party and the spokesperson of Hamdeen Sabahi’s 2014 presidential campaign.
