Preliminary investigations revealed that the 40-year-old man, a low-ranking policeman, was at his parents-in-law’s house in Abu Soliman area on Tuesday to settle a dispute with his wife and take her back after separation.
After she refused to reconcile with him, the accused allegedly shot dead his wife, his parents-in-law, brother-in-law, and three of his children.
His fourth son, seven years old, who was also shot, critically injured but managed to flee the scene, died later during investigation after he had recounted the incident to the police.
The prosecution said on Wednesday evening it seized the firearm used in the crime and 20 empty shotgun shells found in the scene and ordered the inspection of the apartment where the crime took place.
The deceased sons were two, three, four, and seven years old. Their mother was in her mid-20s.
