According to a short statement issued Tuesday by the Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesman Gharib Abdel-Hafez, the defendant has been remanded in custody pending the case and is being referred to the Military Criminal Court.

The 'Madinaty incident'
The incident, dubbed in the media as “Madinaty incident,” reportedly occurred following a dispute between the defendant and the victims, who had residences on the same block in the compound.
The defendant is alleged to have run over and killed Basma Ali, injuring her husband Zaki Hamdan and three of their children.
These details are according to news reports and statements from the family's lawyer.
Ali, a pharmacist, and Hamdan, a veterinarian, lived and worked in Kuwait, and were visiting their home in Egypt for the Eid Al-Adha holiday along with their four children.
On Tuesday, Egypt's Pharmacists Syndicate issued a statement mourning Ali and expressing their wishes for a speedy recovery for her husband and children.
The syndicate reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them during this tough time and providing necessary assistance. Furthermore, they confirmed that they are closely monitoring the investigation, with the aim of expediting his trial.
On Monday, the Veterinarians Syndicate also expressed its support for Hamdan. They mentioned that a delegation was sent to visit him and the children who are still recovering at the hospital. However, they are expected to be discharged soon.
