Agouza Misdemeanor Court fined former Zamalek Sporting Club President Moratada Mansour EGP 5,000 for defaming and slandering journalist and television presenter Ahmed Moussa.

In mid-April, Mansour was ousted from his position as president of Zamalek by an order from the State Council’s Administrative Court after he was convicted of slandering Ahly President Mahmoud El-Khattib and served a one-month prison sentence.

Persistent troubles

Mansour, 70, a lawyer and former member of parliament, is no stranger to controversy owing to his fiery remarks.

In May, Egypt's Economic Misdemeanor Court sentenced Mansour to a three-month prison sentence for slander, defamation, spreading false news, and misusing social media against El-Khattib.

Mansour has appealed this sentence.

He is also facing another trial for slander against El-Khattib in another case that dates back to 2022.

In 2018, Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation banned Mansour from appearing in any media for three months as punishment for offensive remarks against football officials and public figures.
