River rescue personnel retrieved the body of one of the two drowned workers, Hassan El-Maghrebi, and the search is still ongoing for the second, Ahmed Sayed, according to media reports.
According to Luxor Governor Mostafa Alham, the dilapidated Nile cruise ship had been out of service since 2010.
The ship was being renovated in anticipation of the winter tourist season.
More than half of the boat is submerged, due to its long period of being out of service, the reports added.
The Nile Arsenal, River Navigation, and River Police have been directed to raise the cruise ship.
The reports also confirmed that navigation along the Nile course is operating normally.
The Public Prosecution will investigate the incident, they concluded.
