Swiss media reports indicate that the body of Mariam – a 27-year-old mother of two  – was found dead on the banks of the Rhine River near Laufen-Uhwiesen ZH in the canton of Zurich on Friday afternoon.

The Schaffhausen police and Zurich cantonal police had conducted a rescue and search operation for Mariam who was reported missing days before, according to the police statement.

Circumstances surrounding the woman's death are currently under investigation, added the statement.

On Saturday, Magdy's brother posted on his Facebook page news of his sister's death after her body was found 10 days after her disappearance.

A 32-year-old suspected man was arrested on Friday evening in the canton of Schaffhausen in connection with Mariam's death, according to the local police.

The police said that third-party negligence cannot be ruled out.

In the past few days, the incident has sparked widespread attention on social media platforms, prompting many to seek comprehensive details about what happened to Mariam.

Social media posts by her friends and relatives, including Magdy's brother, have suggested that recent disagreements arose between her and her husband leading to separation and a custody battle over the two daughters – Fatima, 8, and Khadija, 6.

Mariam won a judicial ruling granting her custody of the girls with the court granting visitation rights to the father.
