Also on Monday, the court upheld the death sentence for Hussein El-Gharably, Haggag's accomplice in the crime.

Court of Cassation’s rulings are final and cannot be appealed.

Gamal, 44 at the time of her murder, was known for her programme El-Moshagheba (The Troublemaker) on the LTC satellite channel.

She also worked for Al-Hadath Al-Youm satellite channel.

In September 2022, a Giza criminal court sentenced the two defendants to death over the pre-meditated murder of Gamal.

In June 2022, the body of the TV presenter was found buried in the garden of her husband's home after she was reported missing by her family.

Shortly after, the prosecution charged Haggag and El-Gharably with the crime.
