“I am pleased to extend congratulations, on my behalf and on behalf of Egypt’s people, to the people and leadership of the UAE on the 50th National Day,” El-Sisi said in a tweet.

“Over the past years, the UAE has introduced a unique model of development, urbanisation, and technological modernisation,” El-Sisi said.

In addition to congratulating the UAE, he took the opportunity to say “I affirm that our relations are witnessing further strength and solidity.”

“We will continue to enhance [these relations] in a way that achieves the interests of our two peoples and nations,” the president added.

The UAE celebrates its National Day annually on 2 December.
