Egypt’s Environment minister, ESCWA executive secretary discuss preparations for COP27

Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met on Friday with the UN’s Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia’s (ESCWA) executive secretary, Rola Dashti, to discuss technical support the commission could provide Egypt ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), set for Red Sea Resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh in November.

The two sides also tackled cooperation regarding a number proposed climate initiatives to be launched during COP27
The minister welcomed ESCWA's request to offer technical support to Egypt and help in organising the event.
Meanwhile, Dashti shed light on the climate/SDGs debt swap mechanism launched by the ESCWA to serve the interests of both the developing and the developed countries, saying it would be presented as part of the initiatives that Egypt will float during the climate gathering.
