The UAE Air Defence Forces intercepted and destroyed the three hostile drones launched by the Iranian-backed Houthis toward unknown targets in the country at dawn on Wednesday.
A statement issued Thursday by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the country’s categorical rejection of terrorism and acts that aim to destabilise Arab and regional security and stability.
Egypt voices full solidarity with the UAE and supports all measures it takes to protect its security and stability and the safety of its nationals and residents, the statement said.
The Houthis have been launching missiles against Saudi Arabia for almost seven years, since a Saudi-led coalition that includes the UAE intervened in the Yemeni civil war to fight the militia.
They also launched several attacks on the UAE.
Wednesday's attack was the fourth by Houthi rebels against the UAE since January, with the first one killing three people.
