Egypt’s FM Shoukry discusses Syria crises with UN special envoy

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed on Monday in a telephone call the latest developments concerning the Syrian crisis with the UN special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, the Egyptian foreign ministry said.

Pedersen briefed Shoukry on the latest developments concerning political settlement in Syria, expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s supportive role in the settlement efforts, according to the foreign ministry.

For his part, Shoukry expressed Egypt’s keenness to push the political process in Syria forward to end the political impasse in the war-torn country.

The Egyptian FM asserted that the comprehensive settlement in Syria should include Syria’s full sovereignty over all its territories and its political independence.
