In a meeting at El-Sisi’s residence at Bayan Palace in Kuwait, the Egyptian president and the Kuwaiti premier agreed that the joint Egyptian-Kuwaiti committee will focus on ways to boost cooperation in the field of investment and economy in its upcoming meeting, to be held soon.
In January, Egypt expressed interest to host the 13th session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti meeting this year, chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries.
Egypt and Kuwait signed an agreement to form their joint committee in 1995 as part of dozens of agreements signed by the two countries to enhance their partnership in all fields.
The two countries held the 12th session of the joint meeting in December 2018, where they signed many cooperation protocols in different fields, including security, sports, manpower, culture, and education.
Since 1961, Egypt and Kuwait have signed 105 agreements to enhance cooperation and promote their strategic partnership, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Nasser Al-Sabah said in a virtual speech during the celebration.
Trade exchange between the two countries stood at $364 million in 2020, while the Kuwaiti public sector’s investments in Egypt amounted to $5.4 billion and the Kuwaiti private sector’s investments exceeded $10 billion, according to the Kuwaiti foreign minister.
Earlier Tuesday, El-Sisi met with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber as well as Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber
This is the first visit by El-Sisi to Kuwait after Sheikh Nawaf took office in September 2020.
