Egypt voices condolence to Bangladesh over warehouse fire, explosion

Egypt has expressed its condolence to the republic of Bangladesh over the deadly explosion that occurred on Saturday in a container depot near the port city of Chittagong, which left dozens of people dead and injured.



“Egypt expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy to the people of Bangladesh for the victims of the explosion and fire in a shipping container warehouse near Chittagong,” the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Egypt wished a speedy recovery for the injured, and stressing its support for the Asian country.

At least 49 people were killed and hundreds were injured in the incident.

The cause of the explosion, which shattered the windows of nearby buildings and was heard several kilometers away, is still unknown.

Many of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, according to media reports.
