Floods in Sudan resulting from seasonal torrential rains ongoing since May have killed dozens of people this year and displaced tens of thousands of others.

The relief, carried by five Egyptian military planes, included large quantities of tents, blankets, foodstuffs, medicines, and medical supplies provided by the ministries of defence and health, the statement said.

“The aid comes as an affirmation of the depth of the distinguished Egyptian-Sudanese relations,” the statement said, underscoring Egypt’s support for and solidarity with the Sudanese people amid the different crises and adversities.

Sudan’s National Council for Civil Defence said on Tuesday that 75 people have been killed due to the floods, while around 8,000 houses have been destroyed and about 15,000 houses have been damaged across the nation, according to media reports.
