In a statement on Saturday, the Egyptian foreign ministry expressed “full solidarity” with Somalia in the face of this tragedy, stressing its complete rejection of violence, extremism, and terrorism.
Egypt offered condolences to the Somali people for the victims of the attack, wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
On Saturday, Somali officials announced that at least 12 people were killed in Mogadishu after the Al-Shabab terrorist group attacked a hotel seizing hostages on Friday that the authorities tried to free for nearly 20 hours.
Most of the victims were civilians, according to officials.
