During his meeting in Cairo with Jerandi, Shoukry affirmed that Egypt has backed Tunisia in all steps the country takes to achieve stability and development and fulfill the aspirations of its people.
Shoukry and Jerandi reviewed in their meeting ways to boost relations between the two countries, according to the foreign ministry.
The two ministers also tackled a number of issues and topics on the agenda of the 158th ordinary session of the League of Arab States’ (LAS) Council, that will be held at the ministerial level at the LAS’s headquarter in Cairo Tuesday.
The two officials talked about ways of supporting work mechanisms and joint Arab action and cooperation, according to the spokesman.
At the end of the meeting, Shoukry and his Tunisian counterpart underscored the importance of maintaining bilateral consultations on all fronts in the future.
Egypt has repeatedly voiced support for Tunisian President Kais Saied’s moves and decisions stating that they “aimed at achieving stability and security and fulfilling the will of the Tunisian people,” calling his measures “historic.”
In August, Cairo welcomed the Tunisian government and people for voting in favour of the country’s new draft constitution.
In May, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly launched the 17th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Higher Committee during a visit to Tunis, which saw 11 agreement inked s between both nations in several fields, including health, education, agriculture and technology.
