During a meeting with Commissioner-General of UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini in Cairo, Shoukry reviewed efforts made by Egypt to mobilise global political and financial support for UNRWA, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said.

Lazzarini voiced the agency's keenness on coordinating with Egypt to mobilise international support in light of political challenges.

According to the spokesman, the two sides exchanged viewpoints on how to provide aid for UNRWA ahead of the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers at the League of Arab States’ Council, which will be held Tuesday in Cairo, and the UN General Assembly meetings later this month.

He stressed that Egypt would spare no effort to support UNRWA at the regional and international levels considering the centrality of the Palestinian cause, especially the refugee issue, till it is settled in a final and fair way that restores the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
