“I present my extreme condolence on my behalf and behalf of the Egyptian People to the Royal Family, the British government and the people of the United Kingdom in the death of Queen Elizabeth II who ruled her country for long decades with a great wisdom” El-Sisi said in a short statement issued on his social media accounts Thursday evening following Buckingham Palace’s announcement of the death of its late queen.
“I assert that we are ready to work with King Charles to boost the relations between our two friendly countries and people,” he said.
The Egyptian president presented his condolences to the British nation for this great loss, expressing his complete confidence in King Charles’s ability to fill the gap left by Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s longest serving monarch passed away Thursday afternoon at the age of 96 at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle after reigning for 70 years, according to Buckingham Palace.
Her eldest son, the 73-year-old former Prince of Wales Charles, was immediately declared King Charles III by newly appointed British Prime Minister Liz Truss.
In November 2021, the then-prince visited Egypt along with his wife Camilla Parker and met with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in a two day visit to the country that was the first since 2006.
