Egypt condemns assassination attempt on Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan

Egypt condemned on Friday the assassination attempt on Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan, stressing its solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan in the face of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wished a speedy recovery for Khan and all those injured during the assassination attempt.

On Thursday, Khan, 70, who served as Pakistan’s premier 2018-2022, was shot in the leg at a political rally but is recovering in a stable condition.

One person was killed and several others were injured during the attack.

Police announced the arrest of a suspect.
