"I will meet Wednesday with the Senate Speaker Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq, the House's Secretary-General Ahmed Manaa, chairmen of the House and Senate's Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Human Rights Committees," Craxi told the Italian NOVA news agency on Monday.

On Thursday, the delegation plans to meet Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul-Gheit, and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The delegation will also visit the Egyptian Centre for Dispute Settlement and Peace Preservation and the Italian hospital "Umberto" in Cairo.

"Our visit to Cairo aims to conduct a new constructive dialogue with Egyptian MPs and Senators amid the many political and economic challenges which are currently facing the Mediterranean region, on top of which the negative impact of the war in Ukraine, " Craxi told the Italian NOVA news agency.

She added that " Italy firmly believes in the necessity of reaching the truth and justice about the death of Italian student Giulio Regeni in Cairo in 2016."

The Italian parliamentary delegation's visit to Cairo comes a few days after Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani met in Cairo with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
